Message of the CVCD Chairman

Prof. Ranjith Wijayawardhana

State Universities shoulder higher educational responsibilities of the country and over the last 86 years of history it has been expanded to 19 universities by far.  The Committee of Vice Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) marked its 33 years of continued service to the University system as of now.  Vice Chancellors of the Universities and Rectors of the Campuses hold the memberships and conduct its meeting monthly at which primary focus is to discuss policy matters, administrative issues in relation to widening of higher educational opportunities and delivery of study programs complying with required standards aligned with the intellectual needs of the country.

CVCD also intends to maintain academic integrity among its members to serve the common purpose and make suggestions to the UGC for the betterment of the higher education in state universities.  CVCD-UGC Joint meeting is a platform to discuss these suggestions and negotiations in order to implement the new policy decisions.

CVCD emphasizes sharing of experiences with the senior administratives in the system for novel developments and awareness on the contemporary advancements through a bi-annual CVCD conference.  Alternatively, CVCD annual research award ceremony is held to motivate the researchers in achieving their academic excellence.

As the chairman of the CVCD, it is my pleasure to write this message to enlighten the stakeholders on CVCD functions.

I wish 2017 CVCD Conference every success.

Prof. Ranjith Wijayawardana

Chairman, CVCD
